ДЇOrmme it looks like the update has destroyed a lot. A restore failed then because because Tome Mashine replied this is a folder OS X needs. It took ok minutes just to show the content of the folder in Time Machine. But viewing the programs folder was extremely slow in Time Mashine. Then I tried to do the same with the Programs folder. after leaving Time Mashine, the Downloads folder was filled with all the downloaded files again. So it seems that they're still there in reality but invisibl in Finder. Trying to restore them, Time Mashine just asked me to overwrite them.
